Remember these Money-Saving Tax Deductions

The IRS started accepting e-file standard deduction tax returns, which is a reminder for all of us to start making a list of all the tax deductions we qualify for to apply to this year’s returns.

Tax Savings Checklist

  1. Costs incurred while looking for a job;
  2. Out-of-pocket charitable contributions;
  3. Student loan interest that has been paid by a parent;
  4. Health insurance premiums;
  5. Energy-saving home improvements;
  6. Casualty deductions if where you live was declared a disaster area in 2010;
  7. Contributions to a retirement account;
  8. Child day care costs;
  9. Costs for mortgage refinancing;
  10. Travel costs for military reservists.
Paying taxes, privacy and prevention from targeting are the best ways to avoid tax problems.
